CHAPTER GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
There are 27 chapters in California and two in Nevada. The boundaries of each chapter are established by the League, and can be found at the Chapter List and their Credit Unions link. Chapter involvement helps build a valuable network of peers, while strengthening and enhancing local credit unions and communities.
Membership is made up of:
A. Regular Member Credit Unions of the League and their branches, whose principal office is located within the boundaries of this
chapter.
B. A Regular Member of the League that has a credit union branch office or offices within the boundaries of the chapter.
C. Associate members of the California Credit Union League, with a branch located within the Chapter area.
D. Reciprocal Members (Nevada only) - Regular Members of the California Credit Union League, with a branch located within the
Chapter area.
California Chapters
The primary purpose of the California chapters, as stated in the bylaws, is:
“To foster community involvement and cooperation among, and development of, credit unions and credit union personnel
and volunteers in California and to support the California Credit Union League in fulfilling its mission.”
Members of the chapter board of governors are elected from within the membership of each chapter. The size of the board and length of the terms are decided within each chapter. Within the board of governors, each chapter has a number of required and optional officers, including:

In addition, various committees may be appointed as needed, including an Election Committee.
To be eligible to serve, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
A. All candidates must be an elected or appointed official or employees of a Regular or Associate Member Credit Union
within the Chapter and remain so throughout their term of office.
B. Candidates must be nominated by a Regular or Associate Member Credit Union of which they are an elected or appointed
official or employee.
C. Candidates must be eligible for fidelity bond coverage under the League’s policy and remain eligible throughout their
term of office.
Elections are held in conjunction with the chapter annual meeting, held each year between August 1 and September 30. Nevada Chapters
The primary purpose of the Nevada chapters, as stated in the bylaws, is to:
“(a) Assist officers, directors, committeemen, members and prospective members to understand the humanitarian principals,
the operation and the use of the credit union;
(b) Bring credit union service to all working people in the area by organizing additional credit unions in cooperation with
the Nevada Credit Union League, Inc.;
(c) Protect and perfect the credit union movement by cooperating in the development of the League and Credit Union
National Association, Inc., both by assisting in the solution of League and Credit Union National Association problems,
and by promoting membership in and the use of services of these organizations;
(d) Assist credit unions as a group to fulfill their responsibilities and make their contribution to the civic and social life of
the community.”
